Dosage Tool
The brief
My employer was contacted by their Big Pharma client to solve a UI problem they were having with a hormone growth dosage pen tool.
Whilst a design has been created for a previously printed version of the tool, the client wanted to improve the design and ensure that the tool provided the best experience for both patients and health practitioners alike.
The purpose of the tool is to make an incredibly complex task of calculating how to administer the correct dosage every day simpler and encourage less wastage. The main challenge being that a patient’s dosage per day is unique and the medicine only comes in a small selection of volumes.
The solution
The solution I devised expanded upon the previous work by incorporating additional instructions into the dosage tables. The instructions helped the user to not only see how much medicine was to be administered each day, but also when they needed to change dosage pen needles and refrigerate ay unused medicine.
The design also included a row that allowed the user to keep track of which day of the week the medicine was administered, easing the burden on patients with multiple care providers.
The design also needed to take into consideration exactly how the interface would work in a low-code application and whilst printed in common paper formats. The end result being a responsive design based on a tablular scruture of data cells.
The application was delivered for UK and other European markets and has since been rolled out for other locations.
